How can DeepSpace be used with TransAmiga?
First of all you need DeepSpace v1.7 or up as earlier versions don't work
with TransAmiga's FIFO redirected shell.
You need the DOS version to use the provided solution. If you want to use
the paragon version of DeepSpace get one of the paragon door interpreter for
TransAmiga. The docs of it should be enough help to get it running.
With TransAmiga comes the shell interface TrShell. It was provided to give
the sysop the possebility to access a shell from a remote system. It can
easily be used to run standard I/O programs like DeepSpace, Hack & Slash,
etc.
All paths that are mentioned below are taken from a standard TransAmiga BBS
istallation. If you changed a path use the one of your setup.
You should install DeepSpace in the directory BBS:Extras/DeepSpace as
explained in DeepSpace's manual. Run DeepSpace in your local shell to test
the installation and you're sure it works. :-)
Now let's install the TransAmiga part. In this archive you should find a
file called DeepSpace.trans. Copy it to BBS:Rexx. If you use different
paths edit the file and update line 20, 24 and 30.
TransAmiga's Extra menu is thought for onlinegames and similar. If you want
to add DeepSpace to it edit BBS:Configs/Extra.Rx and append the file
Extra.Rx provided with this archive. The commentline of the provided
Extra.Rx file can be deleted. It's just for easy recognition of the
spacing. If you allready used D in your menu change the first character to
the one you wish to use.
In case you want to add DeepSpace to an other menu edit the corresponding
:Rx file you find in your BBS:Configs.
That's all. Run TransAmiga or reload the config and you can play it online.
The ARexx script is aware of multiline. If you use different Rexx
directories for different lines then copy DeepSpace.trans to all of them.
All known protection possebilities are used to keep callers out of the
shell. It should be almost impossible to break into the shell.
If you have any problems running DeepSpace with TransAmiga contact me.
Have fun!
